Le Lipstick

Lipstick is one of those things that is so womanly and a little grown up to me. It’s the application of lipstick… I think it’s such a sexy action. I do love lip glosses, but sometimes I want a nice sheen, and not high shine, patent lips. And with the wind in Chicago, my hair doesn’t stick to my lips when I wear lipstick!

Coincidently, Kristina, and my other best girlfriend in the city, Laura, both asked me about lipstick in the span of just weeks. Must have been fate to write a lipstick post! The consensus was that lipstick looked “too dark”, made them look older, and how is one to put it on? But ladies! Lipstick is fantastic. There are so many great formulas and shades out there, and there is no faster way to pull a look together, add some life to your face, or just change your look completely than lipstick.

Beauty Finds, The Givenchy Bag

While rummaging through my mother’s closet back home, I came upon this gorgeous green leather Givenchy makeup bag. My mother’s bosses gave this to her as part of a Christmas gift almost twenty years ago. What a nice gift, don’t you think? It is not the Stolen Makeup Bag, but it is much more elegant than that Clinique Happy free gift-with-purchase bag anyways. And my mother let me take it home with me to Chicago! There’s a little wear and tear, but it just adds to its charm. I remember her keeping her essentials, like her Lancôme lipsticks and blush and Shiseido pressed powder, in this très chic makeup bag.

Old Favorites

When it comes to beauty products, favorites can come and go. One embarrassing example from my past beauty life is the purple phase I went through as a freshman in high school. I believed that I absolutely could not look great without some kind of purple on my eyes, and my favorite products at the time were all shades of purple. Maybe I thought the purple would bring out my brown eyes? Who knows!
